Editorial Reviews
Amazon.com
Outdoor chefs who prefer grilling the traditional way
will find this chimney starter system invaluable. No
more waiting around while the charcoal slowly heats
up--the chimney's durable aluminized-steel cylinder
causes the flames to ignite each briquette quickly and
evenly. To get things fired up, simply fill the chimney
with briquettes, place crumpled newspaper or Weber
Firestarters under the cylinder, and set in a
kettle-style grill. A touch of a match through the
holes at the bottom starts the fire, and within minutes
the grill's ready to cook up burgers, hot dogs, or
whatever's on the menu. The chimney starter offers an
extra-large capacity that can hold enough briquettes
for a 22-1/2-inch kettle grill, and its double
thermoplastic handle extends outward from a mounted
panel to keep hands away from heat. For use on a grill
or grate only, the chimney starter measures 7-1/2 by
7-1/2 by 12 inches.
From the
Manufacturer
Weber's chimney starter makes starting your charcoal a
snap. It also cuts down the amount of time it takes for
the coals to get ready. Just load up our extra large
cannister full of coals, light up a fire starter or
crinkled up newspaper, and set the cannister over the
flame. In a matter of minutes the coals will be red
hot. Who ever thought it could be so easy?
Customer Reviews
it's a breeze!
This is my second chimney starter and it's so much
superior to the last that it's like an entirely
different product. I used to struggle to get the
newspaper lighted and then it would go out. with this
one you just light one little bit and the whole thing
begins to smoke--like a chimney. Pretty soon the coals
are blazing. It makes grilling so easy and without the
smell and taste of charcoal lighter fluid.
Better than expected -
Weber made it - nuf said
This morning (2 days after receiving) I used the Weber
Rapidfire Chimney Starter for the 1st time. I simply
wasn't ready to start the smoking process (yes I have a
Smoky Mountain Weber Smoker)when the briquets were
ready to cook. The difference in time is hard to
measure, but I will guarantee you it was half the time
of the old lighting can I bought at the hardware store.
I could light twice the number of briquets in half the
time. If that doesn't convince you that $16.00 (or so)
is money well spent, I'm sorry. It should. I thank my
lucky stars I have discovered Weber products. Somebody
who uses those products is in charge of quality
control.
Where have you been my
whole life
My father has spent most of his life using lighter
fluid and electric charcoals starters. I didn't know
any better and was doing the same thing until a
colleage suggested I try a chimney starter. Good-bye
lighter fluid! Good-bye funny petrolium enhanced food
taste!
A chimnee starter uses two pieces of newspaper to
start. When its humid, a little bit of vegitable oil on
the paper is helpful.
I also recommend real charcoal - not the pre-formed
brickets made out of waste sawdust!
The Weber has held up really well. I'm going on two
years of nearly weekly use, plus it sits outside all
year long here in Texas.
